Genetics
The genetic structure of an animal is changed through different events, movements and expansions of animals. In American Black Bears there are many ways that you see genetics. Focusing on an area in California, the goal of the experiment was to find out the genetic structure of American Black Bears living in California. They researched a group of about 540 American Black bears and it turned out that the population can be traced to have distinct structures. It was then found that there is genetic evidence of 2 historic colonization events, splitting the genetic structure of the 540 American Black Bears. The first genotypes of the bears were traced to the Yosemite National Park region. The second genotypes of the bears was traced to the area of central Sierra Nevada. This spread in population towards having them all come together happened because of the expansion of the population, migration and other genetic factors.
